Frequently Asked Questions
What is your return policy?
Return inquiries are handled on a case-by-case basis, so if for some reason you're not totally pleased, please let me know. The sooner you notify me of a problem, the better chance we can work out a solution.
How much does shipping and handling cost?
Shipping costs are generally charged at cost plus a nominal fee of about $2 to help cover packaging and handling costs.
I ship prints all over the world, so it would be too complex to list the myriad of shipping options here. You will be able to see the exact shipping cost of your print in your shopping cart before you commit to buy.
What happens when I click the ’ADD TO CART’ button?
Don’t worry, you’ll not be committed to buy anything simply by clicking the ‘Add to Cart’ button. When you’re viewing an image large, clicking the ‘Add to Cart’ button will simply list your purchase options (prints, products and/or licensing).
I don’t have a PayPal account and want to pay by credit card – can I do that?
Yes! You don’t need to have a PayPal account to pay by credit card using the PayPal payment gateway.
When you get to the PayPal site look for the words on the left saying “Don't have a PayPal account?”. Click ‘Continue’ to proceed with payment without using a PayPal account.
Why should I sign up for the newsletter?
The best way to stay up-to-date on original fine art photography prints from Thomas Folke Andersen is to join the collector's mailing list.
Get first notice of new editions, an inside perspective on new work and list-only special offers. Collectors know that this is their best – and sometimes only – chance to snap up a print from popular, fast-selling releases.
What's a limited edition?
A limited edition is a limited number of prints of a particular image. Limited edition prints often become more expensive as the edition sells out.
Many of my limited editions are also limited in number by the size of the print.
Once a limited edition is closed (sold out) it's closed forever and no more prints will be created. All limited edition prints are signed, titled and numbered au verso and come with a Certificate of Authenticity,
What’s an open edition?
An open edition is not limited by a total number of prints of a particular image – you can say it’s unlimited.
Open edition prints are signed, titled and numbered sequentially au verso.
How are your prints made?
All fine art paper prints are individually created by me, using genuine Epson Ultrachrome inks on archival, acid free, 100% rag fine art paper. All prints get sprayed with a premium archival-safe matte varnish which greatly enhances the life of digital photos, providing a clear water and UV-resistant surface.
Fine art canvas prints are created using USA-made archival, acid-free matte canvas, recognized as the world's leading fine art canvas. Canvas prints are created using genuine Epson Ultrachrome inks and an archival liquid coat, providing a fully sealed barrier that protects against dust, water, inquisitive fingers and fading.
How do I know that my print is authentic?
Each limited edition print comes with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate is printed on archival paper and signed by the artist. Each certificate has a serialized numerical hologram. An identical numerically serialized hologram is then also affixed directly to the print itself (au verso). Finally, your limited edition print is also registered in an online central art registry.
Open edition prints are signed, titled and numbered sequentially au verso.
Fine art canvas prints are signed and numbered on the front, lower right.
How do you ship your prints?
Our smaller prints (A4 size) are put in protective sleeves and shipped in sturdy cardboard envelopes. Prints larger than A4 size are also stored in protective sheets but are usually shipped in tubes. If you want your larger prints shipped flat I’m happy to oblige, but please note additional handling fees may apply.
Fine art canvas prints are shipped as gallery-wraps, stretched over wooden stretcher bars and ready to hang on your wall. Currently gallery-wraps are only offered for shipment within Australia.
If you live outside Australia and are interested in the fine art canvas prints please contact me for shipping options and a shipping quote.
What if a print gets damaged during shipping?
All prints are packed with lots of care, always doing my very best to ensure that a print won't be damaged in transit. All packages are also labeled with special handling instructions.
In the unfortunate event that a print is damaged please notify me as soon as possible. Keep in mind the sooner you notify me of a problem, the better chance we can work out a solution.
Please also note that for limited editions, I can't replace damaged prints after the edition has sold out.
What if a print has a printing flaw?
All prints are individually printed by me and every print is carefully inspected before shipping. In the very unlikely event that a flawed print is shipped out, I will replace defective prints within two weeks after they are received, so please inspect your prints right after they arrive.
If you do spot an error or defect, please take a photo of the print showing the flaw. I'll ask you to destroy the original (tear-it up) and send me another photo, and will then promptly replace your print.
What's an Artist Proof or AP?
Artist Proofs (APs) are a fixed number of extra prints (usually five in my case), outside of the set edition. These are generally not meant to be sold, but rather kept by the artist for personal use or donations.
Do prints look exactly like the images in the online galleries?
While I try my very best to ensure fidelity between the images you see online and my final out prints, it’s very hard to get an exact match between the two. The tonal range of fine art paper is almost always different to that of a computer monitor.
While I use a professional, calibrated monitor, the monitor you view an image on might be calibrated and therefore your monitor might display colors incorrectly.
In either case you can rest assured that I take great pride in creating prints that look exactly the way I intended them to look.
Why don't you offer framed prints?
Most of my prints are available for sale as prints only, though occassionally a particular series may be offered as framed prints ready to hang.
Framing a print, however, very much comes down to personal preference and taste. So rather than limiting your choice to one or two options, you have full flexibility to frame your print exactly the way you want it.
Whether print is going to hang in a modern office or a cozy living room may also weigh into your choice of framing.
Lastly, shipping framed prints is quite risky business and obviously more expensive than shipping prints only.
Gallery Representation?
If you're a gallery owner and are interested to feature or represent my work I'd be happy to dicuss possibilities.
Typically I would dedicate work to a gallery that's not sold through this website but exclusively through one or more galleries.
